This week in my K12 Learning 2.0 course I am participating in we get to explore tons of tools that will engage, inspire creativity and allow for collaboration. One of my favorites is VoiceThread. I have been using it for a couple of years now and sharing it whenever i can with other educators. Below is a VoiceThread that we use for our Teaching the iGeneration Book Study online course.

New Blog Discoveries and One of My All Time Faves.
I am really enjoying my K12 Learning 2.0 Course! Last week, I discovered (with the help of Shelley Paul) some great blogs that are new to me written by innovative educators doin' it well. As I read through several of their posts, I wanted to shout a big "Amen" several times.

I was excited to see that one of the "recommended" good reads was one of my favorite bloggers and author of Teaching the iGeneration, Bill Ferriter. His blog titled, The Tempered Radical, always resonates with me. His latest blog post has a great visual on technology which has gone viral. Check it out. If you have not read his book, it is a great read. I actually facilitate a five week online book study through FDLRS which is free to educators. FREE BOOK?! Yes- free!

Autism Spectrum Disorders Boot Camp and Summer Institute with UCF CARD
This week I am traveling to Lake County for our annual ASD Boot Camp and Summer Institute in collaboration with the awesome UCF-CARD. What is Boot Camp you ask? Well, each year there seems to be a nice chunk of turnover in the classrooms that support our students with a high level of needs. So, new teachers are hired and we have two days to tell them everything they need to know about students with autism. Easy, right? No! There is never enough time but we do our best to fill the days we have with them with lots of relevant and meaningful info. Our participants are from Lake, Orange and Sumter Counties. Good times.

One of the Boot Camp presentations I was able to share with the group was on the use of schedules a critical component of structured teaching. Here is the presentation which has been adapted for the several Boot Camps I have been part of. Enjoy!

Welcome. It's About Time.
Welcome! This is my first post in a blog I have been pondering for quite some time. I hope this will be the answer I have been looking for. I wanted a way to connect with participants in our professional development, colleagues, and anyone interested in the same things I am. It will mostly be a way to share "good stuff." Cool tools, links to other great resources, community happenings, and other random items I think you should care about. The opinions expressed here on this blog are of my own not of my (awesome) employer whom I respect. We work hard here at FDLRS Action to reach educators, caregivers, service providers, anyone that has a love of learning and children. Now let's get started!
